The abundance of fish life and the exquisite corals have made the Dahlak Islands, a scuba divers' paradise, and an aquatic wonderland.

The Dahlak islets are true desert islands, with almost barren soil appearing simply flat with sand beds or barren rocks, which occasionally drift out to sea. Much of Eritrea's 1,200 km mainland coast such as the island shores is virtually deserted. Divers have not visited many Dahalk reefs for more than 30 years since the 1960's. Depending on their depth and coral formations, different reefs are suited to either fully equipped scuba divers or snore kellers to get to both the populated and the inhabited islands; you might want to consider a boat with at least 25hp D5HL engine.
